Taxpayer Services

Regional Offices are open to meet by appointment with taxpayers and tax practitioners.

Regional office locations are in Beckley, Charleston, Clarksburg, Martinsburg, Parkersburg, and Wheeling.

Appointments can be scheduled online at https://apps.wv.gov/appt/tax with available hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday through Friday, or by calling the Taxpayer Services Division at 304-558-2799.

Upon arrival for an appointment, the following protocols are requested:

  1. Call 304-558-2799 to inform the Tax representative of your arrival. Please do not bring additional guests to your individual appointment.
  2. Remain in your vehicle until a tax representative calls you back to enter the facility.
  3. Enter through the designated door and sign in.
  4. A mask, temperature check, and screening questions will be required before your appointment. Hand sanitizer will be available for your use.
  5. Bring all required documents with you to the appointment.
  6. After your appointment, leave through the nearest exit.

Taxpayers and tax practitioners are encouraged to contact the State Tax Department by phone or email to address questions before making an appointment for an in-person visit.

For personal income tax filings, we encourage the use of our approved electronic filing vendors. Free file programs may be available to certain qualified taxpayers. See the following web pages for more information.

Payment Plans

We do have options for payment plans in six- and twelve-month installments for those who may be struggling to make their payment. For more information on this, please visit our Payment Plans page.

The Compliance Division can be reached at 304-558-8753 for assistance in obtaining a payment plan for periods greater than twelve months.

Business Tax Filings

The Tax Department encourages taxpayers to interact with the agency online, on our MyTaxes Website at https://mytaxes.wvtax.gov/.

Business Registration

For business registration, the Tax Department encourages taxpayers to use the WV One Stop Business Portal at https://business4.wv.gov/. If you have questions about this process, please contact the WV One Stop Business Center at (304) 558-8000.
