Vendors Should Not Collect Wardensville or Wayne’s Municipal Sales and Use Taxes

Previous notifications and information from the West Virginia State Tax Department indicated that the Towns of Wardensville, West Virginia, and Wayne, West Virginia, had adopted Municipal sales and use tax ordinances that vendors should begin collecting these taxes on July 1, 2017.

This was in error.

Review by the Tax Commissioner disclosed that some statutory requirements for imposition and collection of these taxes had not been met.

Therefore, all previous notices sent concerning the Wardensville and Wayne municipal sales and use tax should be disregarded and vendors should not collect the Wardensville and Wayne municipal sales and use taxes beginning July 1, 2017.
